I have previously shown the beautiful heliconia here and here, but felt the need to share this example, discovered in the Brisbane Botanical Gardens Tropical Dome. I think it's heliconia wagneriana from photos I've seen on-line. An upright version of the pendula.
People think of the rainbow coloured bracts as the bloom, however the true flowers are the sepals which stick up out of the bracts. I think they look like a choir of green mice. Or perhaps hungry frogs calling for their mother to come feed them. Whatever they are, they were the reason I took the photos. Aren't they cute?
