Any walker out in the cold has to be warmed by the sight of these beauties, prolific at the moment in my area. Orange crucifix orchids have been a favourite since childhood although to be honest I prefer the red. There's no denying the beauty of a clump of orchids screaming 'Look at me!' no matter what the colour. In the middle is a pretty orange grevillea growing next door and on the right the attention seeking orange trumpet creeper, an absolute stunner when it's flowering in full swing, disguising any number of crooked sheds and fences. A shame it's season doesn't last all year.
