This is mussaenda frondosa or Ticker tape plant and is also called Dhobi tree, Handkerchief bush and Flag bush. It is related to coffee trees and native to Asia, such as Thailand, the West Indies and parts of tropical West Africa, such as Zaire.
Mussaenda has a number of varieties and colours although this is the only one I can find with just the one coloured bract or leaf; the others have a mass of rose, white or apricot coloured bracts surrounding the small yellow or orange flower. There is some dispute over whether the showy parts are bracts or sepals. Whatever, they are pretty.
