I was walking past a florist today as she was putting some of these delightful blooms into a display and realised I had snapped some on my recent trip to Victoria but had no idea of their name. She kindly provided one, leucadendron. I am always thrilled to find a name for one of my UFO's without resorting to "What's This?" Wednesday.
I had thought they were some sort of protea but she said not. However, reading on the net reveals that they are indeed in the family. They make a beautiful mass planting at the Werribee Zoo too.
I used to grow them & use them in my floral work but sadly the tree died on me!!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly look hardy, but these weren't a tree. Maybe you could get some more Joolz and try them here? Thanks for visiting....
ReplyDeleteSandy we have one growing in our front yard !
ReplyDeleteNo way! I didn't see anything like that there. Is it a little one just starting out? Or is it hidden in the front pine shrubbery???
