PULLING STRINGS...

Early yesterday evening I amused myself by documenting the building of a web.  It was a difficult task because of failing light, the camera wanting to focus on background foliage and the fineness of the subject itself.  I have been unable to identify the spider so far.
She was going like the clappers and moving the web as she set about her task which made it doubly difficult.
Initially, I noticed a ball of white bobbing around and as she went about her business it became looser but this (rather blurred) shot shows the thread before she would pull it out.
Finally, after building this rather loose arrangement, she settled and I got a snap... with the flash on.
This morning the whole web was gone and no sign of the spider.  She's probably been eaten by a bird, which she didn't see because some dill blinded her with a flash of light last night.   Sorry little spider...

  1. Great shots Sandy, and interesting too. Wouldn't it have been cool to catch it on video too though? x

  2. Awesome photos! The spider looks quite big and scary. Hope a bird didn't get him and he just decided to set up web elsewhere lol :)

    1. Thanks Di, he was very tiny actually. I think he may be okay though or his twin brother was spinning another web in the same bush the other day. Phew. Relief.

    1. Can't say I've noticed any funnel webs here either, luckily. I managed not to shriek last time I found a spider in the bathroom and haven't had to do the spider dance for a while either.... :) Thanks for visiting.
